About VantageRoad Regulatory Partners

Senior Regulatory Counsel. Global Reach. One Integrated Firm.

Regulatory complexity has become a growing strategic business issue. To solve for this, VantageRoad Regulatory Partners was founded by Komie Jain, Co-Founder, Partner and General Counsel for VantageRoad Partners (VR). The mission is to help organizations with cross-border legal requirements, regulatory approvals, government relationships, and stakeholder expectations that increasingly intersect. Success depends not only on understanding the law, but on coordinating execution consistently across every jurisdiction.

These services are designed to complement the executive partner model of VR. VantageRoad Regulatory Partners provides the global in-country execution capability that complex, multi-jurisdiction regulatory work requires. Whereas VR focuses on working alongside executives as inside partners on strategic imperatives for external affairs, regulatory strategy, government relations, and stakeholder engagement, and external affairs. T

Together, they give clients access to the full arc of regulatory support through one trusted relationship.

The regulatory partners business, formerly known as TransLegal, was acquired by Komie and merged into our firm. She had worked closely with TransLegal for many years. The firm is purpose-built to continue the work TransLegal was known for: rigorous, in-country regulatory counsel across more than 80 countries for clients operating in highly regulated industries.

Komie’s career has spanned both sides of this equation — federal government service, major industry associations, multinational corporations, and years of working alongside TransLegal on complex regulatory matters. That experience is what makes her uniquely positioned to lead this practice. Komie knows the clients, the work, and the global network from the inside. VantageRoad Regulatory Partners will preserve what made TransLegal valuable while giving it the strategic depth and broader platform of VR.

VantageRoad Regulatory Partners handles it as one program, with senior oversight and consistent strategic direction throughout.

Our Regulatory Services

We provide integrated regulatory advisory services for highly regulated industries operating across borders. VantageRoad Regulatory Partners offers a range of services that span the full arc of a regulatory challenge, from strategic planning and market entry through product registration, government engagement, and crisis response. Our work is integrated by design: the policy strategy and the in-country execution are informed by the same senior team.

We manage product registrations, novel ingredient approvals, and authorization processes across more than 80 countries. Our in-country network has handled registrations in sectors ranging from food additives and bioengineered ingredients to agricultural chemicals, animal feed additives, cosmetics, and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. We do not simply file applications — we manage the full process, including engagement with competent authorities when applications stall.

  • Multi-jurisdiction product registration programs
  • Novel food and novel ingredient approvals
  • Bioengineering and GM-derived product authorizations
  • Bioprospecting authorizations under the Nagoya Protocol and Convention on Biological Diversity
  • Label review and compliance for local market requirements
  • Classification determinations for products in regulated categories

Regulatory outcomes are rarely determined by filings alone. The firms and clients who achieve results in regulated markets understand that government relations are part of the regulatory strategy, not a separate function. VantageRoad Regulatory Partners conducts government outreach, engages competent authorities directly, and participates in international standards processes on behalf of clients.

  • Direct engagement with sanitary authorities, ministries, and regulatory bodies
  • Codex Alimentarius committee engagement and coalition building
  • Government relations strategy for proposed regulatory amendments
  • Lobbying compliance and research across multiple jurisdictions
  • Procurement opportunity identification and application support

Regulatory compliance is a material factor in any transaction involving regulated products or businesses operating in multiple markets. We conduct regulatory due diligence for acquisitions, joint ventures, and distributor arrangements, assessing the regulatory standing of the target, the transferability of registrations, and the compliance implications of the transaction.

  • Regulatory due diligence for M&A in food, pharma, and chemical sectors
  • Assessment of product registration transferability
  • Review of distributor and licensing agreements for regulatory implications
  • Post-transaction regulatory integration planning

When a compliance issue emerges — a product recall, an enforcement action, a denied registration, or a regulatory dispute — the response requires both legal and strategic judgment, and it requires it quickly. We have managed product recalls, engaged regulators in enforcement proceedings, and coordinated multi-country responses to compliance events.

  • Product recall coordination and distributor communication
  • Engagement with competent authorities in enforcement proceedings
  • Response strategy for denied or challenged registrations
  • Cross-border crisis communications support

Organizations operating in regulated industries increasingly need to engage not just with regulators but with the broader policy environment — commenting on proposed rules, participating in international standards processes, and communicating their regulatory positions to stakeholders and the public. We help clients develop the policy positions, messaging, and engagement strategies to do this effectively.

  • Regulatory comment and public participation strategy
  • Stakeholder engagement around regulatory proposals
  • Thought leadership on regulatory and policy developments
  • Executive communications on regulatory and compliance matters
